Falsification has faced criticism, with some arguing that it is too simplistic to capture the complexities of scientific practice. For instance, auxiliary hypotheses are often involved in testing a theory, meaning that a failed test could be due to a problem with the auxiliary hypothesis rather than the theory itself. This is known as the Duhem-Quine thesis.

Despite its limitations, falsification remains a valuable tool for evaluating scientific claims. It provides a clear criterion for distinguishing between scientific and non-scientific statements and encourages a more critical and rigorous approach to scientific inquiry. It is a cornerstone of modern scientific methodology.
